I seek to help first-time therapy seekers and/or any individuals who are struggling with depression, trauma, grief, stress, relationship/boundary issues, and more. Growing up both in Korea and in the U.S., mental health was never a topic in my family. As a therapist and also drawing from my own experience, I believe learning to invest in yourself is one of the most courageous steps in life.
You are worthy to be heard, restored, and to thrive. I seek to advocate for and provide a safe, caring, non-judgmental, and collaborative space for holistic care- physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually- that can promote deeper healing and growth. I have experience working in various hospitals, clinics, and community-based mental health settings with children, adults, and families who struggle with severe co-occurring disorders, personality disorders, and more.
My Specialties
I specialize in unpacking and healing from trauma, specifically supporting individuals who have experienced sexual abuse. That may include issues of experiencing low self-esteem, guilt, shame, difficulty setting boundaries, expressing emotions, and much more.
My goal is to help and empower you to uproot any unconscious (or conscious) unhealthy patterns of behaviors and thoughts and to discover and experience what it means to be hopeful again and become a healthier, true self. So I utilize various therapeutic approaches, including strength-based, trauma-focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and other modalities. We can collaborate and see what works best for you together.
Outside of work, I love cooking (although I can never follow a recipe correctly! I like to put my own twist on things), hiking, painting, and reading in my free time. My dream pet is a giant tortoise! I just…love it!
To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable…
