Sexual Concerns for Individuals & Couples
REDUCE SEXUAL SHAME TIED TO RELIGIOUS OR CULTURAL BELIEFS
FIND DEEPER EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL CONNECTION WITH YOUR PARTNER
DEVELOP A HEALTHIER, MORE FULFILLING RELATIONSHIP WITH SEXUALITY
You're not doing this wrong.
When sex feels like a source of stress instead of connection, it can create distance, shame, and guilt, even in relationships built on love.
With the right support, you can let go of what you’ve learned to feel and start discovering what intimacy means for you.
What is Sexual Concerns?
Sexual Concerns gives you a safe space to talk with a therapist who specializes in sexuality, intimacy, and relational dynamics. At Strong Roots Therapy, we understand that sexual challenges, whatever they may look like, are extremely personal and the thought of discussing them with anyone can leave you feeling vulnerable and exposed. That’s why we go at your pace, gently exploring the emotional patterns, belief systems, and personal history that shape how you experience closeness with yourself and the people you love.
At Strong Roots Therapy, our approach to sex therapy integrates attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and faith-sensitive perspectives. Whether you’re navigating this as an individual or as a couple, we create a space grounded in emotional safety where you can explore what intimacy means to you, without judgment.

Why Us
Strong Roots Therapy
We believe that strong, healthy boundaries are the key to building the life you want.
The experiences you had as a child can quietly shape your life as an adult, often without realizing the beliefs that were formed as a result.
At Strong Roots Therapy, we prioritize inner-child work to gently guide you back to those formative moments, helping you understand their impact on the beliefs, patterns, and behaviors you’re experiencing today. We help you nurture a kinder, more gentle voice toward yourself – to develop the strong roots you need to grow into the best version of yourself.
Growing up as part of the Asian-American community, we understand the effect that family and social expectations can have on shaping you as a person. Our professional experience gives us the insight to guide and support you through your own journey as we work to de-stigmatize mental health in our community.
There is a real, authentic ‘you’ – we help you rediscover that person and guide you to living on your terms.
We are committed to offering therapy that is:

Sexual Concerns for Individuals & Couples
Frequently Asked Questions
Is sexual concerns only for couples?
Not at all. Many individuals begin Sexual Concerns on their own to better understand their relationship with sexuality, work through sexual anxiety, or address shame. You don’t need a partner to start this work, and you don’t need to wait until things feel “bad enough.” If something feels off, that’s reason enough.
Do we talk about explicit details?
Only when it’s clinically helpful. The focus of our sessions is on emotional patterns, relational dynamics, and identity, not graphic discussion. You’ll always have control over what you share and how deep you go.
How is this different from regular therapy?
Sexual Concerns is talk therapy, but with specialized training in sexuality and intimacy. At Strong Roots Therapy, we integrate attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and faith-sensitive perspectives to address sexuality at a deeper emotional level, something that general therapy may not fully explore.
I feel embarrassed even considering therapy for this. Is that normal?
Shame and silence are incredibly common around intimacy struggles, especially for people raised in environments where sexuality was rarely discussed openly. Many of our clients feel hesitant at first but experience real relief once they realize they’re not alone and that their struggles make sense within their personal history. If you’re unsure whether this is right for you, we’d love to talk it through. Book a free consultation, and we’ll answer your questions with zero pressure.
How long does it take to see results?
Every person and every relationship is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. That said, many of our clients begin feeling a sense of clarity and relief within the first 4 to 6 sessions. You might notice that conversations with your partner feel less charged, or that the shame you’ve been carrying starts to loosen its grip. Deeper shifts in sexual confidence, relational patterns, and connection typically develop over three or more months, depending on your goals and what you’re working through.
Results From Sexual Concerns
When it comes to building a healthier relationship with intimacy, your results will be deeply personal to you and your experiences. Your willingness to show up and stay consistent with the process will help you feel relief sooner. As you move through this work, you may experience the following positive results:
- Reduced shame and anxiety around sexuality
- Greater emotional and physical comfort with intimacy
- Increased clarity around your identity, desires, and boundaries
- Improved communication with your partner
- A more authentic connection with yourself and the people you love
